My Story
This journey started with a wonderful bond between a dog and a teenager - a trainer in the making - on course to an unfortunate event.
I thought I knew my dog well. Overconfident, yet blinded by inexperience, I took him out for our usual walk, but he made an unpredictable choice, it cost me his life.
This painful loss put me on a mission, a search for answers, I went through hundreds of books and videos learning why they behave the way they do. I volunteered at shelters, wherever there was an animal in trouble, there was I fostering. His death was not going to be in vain.
As I finish my B.B.A. I felt that this job wasn’t for me. Meanwhile my quest remained alive after years of attending courses, seminars and conferences about dogs. Later with the support of my family, it went from hobby, to part-time until it became my full time job.
After working for various companies each with a different technique, all lead me to earn my certification as Dog Trainer Coach at UNITED STATES K-9 ACADEMY & Police Dog Training and as Canine Behavior Specialist at K9 UNIVERSITY.
I had the privilege of working with thousands of dogs and their people; each dog is a marvelous world and so is each owner. With over 20 years of experience working with both sides of the leash, somewhere DOG KNOWLOGY was born.
My contributions to my community are: writing for news outlets including LATINA NOTICIAS (since 2009), participating in radio programs talking about animal rights and school presentations teaching children about empathy and responsibility and pet events expanding my network.
